FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - On Saturday at the Randal Tyson Track Center, the Illinois men's track and field squad wrapped up competition at the Tyson Invitational, as the pole vault crew excelled with several solid performances. In the pole vault invitational, freshman Matthew Bane matched his personal best with a height of 17-0 ¾ (5.20m) and finished fourth overall. Fellow freshman Cody Klein won the college section of the pole vault with a personal-best mark of 16-6 ¾ (5.05m) while junior Alex Baldwin and freshman Joshua Hodur placed seventh and eighth, respectively, at 15-7 (4.75m). "I was really pleased with the performances by our pole vault crew today," interim head coach Mike Turk said. "Matt jumped at his PR and had great attempts at the next height. His consistency has been excellent. Cody has been making great strides and really stepped up today. Josh and Alex both jumped well too."
